The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has ruled out the possibility of a new cold wave in Karachi, stating that the city is likely to experience warmer daytime temperatures and relatively cool nights over the next one to one-and-a-half months. Speaking to The Express Tribune, PMD spokesperson and Deputy Director Anjum Nazir Zaigham said that the effects of a new western weather system bringing possible rain and snowfall to Balochistan would not have any unusual impact on Karachi. He added that while temperatures may occasionally drop by one to two degrees, no fresh spell of cold weather is expected during the ongoing or upcoming month. He further said that Karachi’s weather during the month of Ramazan is also expected to remain similar to current conditions. The PMD reported that sea breezes have become active in the city. On Monday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 15.5 degrees Celsius, while the maximum reached 29.5 degrees Celsius. The department also warned that light fog may prevail over parts of the city today, potentially reducing visibility.
